Aspect of IDentity.

The Aspect of Identity that I most Identity with would most likly be personality. The main thing I focus on is my personality. I try to be very laid back and greet and interact with everyone who crosses my path. I dont judge a person based on appearance. Well I cant say that completely because I feel that human nature has trained us to automatically create an idea of what you think that person is like based on their outward appearance. Although I try my hardest to be very easy going. I feel that if you are easy going it makes it a lot easier to get along with colleagues. If you are easy going you can make a more general group of friends and then you can focus in on the people who will be your true and closest friends while always being friendly with everyone. While talking to professors I tend to try and put on a more intellectual appearance to not come off as ignorant. This can sort of flip flop with the public self vs private self but I feel an identity can not be the same for friends and higher ranking people because friends dont seem as judgmental because you do not meet them in a professional environment so you dont have the pressure. In conclusion I feel that my personality consist of my laid back attitude towards people in general and my professional personality combining to make the entirety of my identity.

How to Tame a Wild Tongue

The opening scene where Anzaldua is in the  dentists chair connects to the overall point in many ways.A wild tongue from the dentist standpoint is "Strong or as stubborn he says and how do you tame a wild tongue, train it to be quiet,...make it lie down"(Anzaldua ,2). This can be directly related to a wild tongue referring to how Anzaldua was treated when she spoke Spanish in public places. Everywhere she went she was also confronted with a giant struggle because when someone tries to suppress your native language (like the nuns did if they caught her speaking Spanish)it can never be demolished. Language is a part of someone it is always stubborn and will come out whether it be body language or in someones words and trying to force an accent to just be erased is like erasing a point of a persons history which can virtually never get erased. A person is always going to be more susceptible to have a wild tongue especially in Anzaldua's case where she was being told both sides society told her that Spanish was not acceptable and then she went home and he family told her that Spanish was the right language. Overall the dentist saying how do you tame a wild tongue relates to the rest of the story because just like the dentist cant control her tongue neither can society because her language is a part of her identity. Anzaldua's use of Spanish throughout her writing did make sense it added a tie between her life and her experiences. I think her purpose was to connect her audience to the real experiences and what her life looked like from her point of view. I do not believe that speaking and or writing in Academic English is a necessary to a persons identity. While it may give off a sense of intelligence while talking with Academic English that is only an outside identity not a persons full identity.Just because a person knows or can speak academic English doesn't show their true identity it doesn't even show their true academic level. Identity is comprised of many things taking  in to account all the factors that make up a person. You can only see the identity of a person by looking at heir speech, body language, mood, and personality. The only thing that describes a persons identity is that person as a whole. To me I see three different types of English. There is formal English which is Academic English with all the pronunciation's and correct sentence structure with a high level vocabulary. Then there is common English which consist of everyday talk with some shortening of words and abbreviations. Lastly there is Slang which is abbreviations and made up words coming out to sound like gibberish. When talking to my friends I show my true identity no games. When talking to someone of a higher rank or elder status I tend to talk more formally and correct grammar while when I am talking to a friend or person I am close with I use nonstandard English because when talking to someone of a higher rank or elder status you must be polite and treat them with the respect and dignity that they deserve. While on the other hand my friends are not judging me and it is a more relaxed and comfortable situation because they don't need the respect as much as other with higher rank or elder status do. The statement "I am my language" means that however you talk is your identity everyone speaks with a different variation on the same language this is how we show identity. The language you speak can be a direct link to your identity. This is because it brings up a part of your heritage which is completely different than anyone else it can make you unique. I feel Identity isn't a set thing people go through phases for better and for worse and life is a constant sway of a persons identity and the only way you can judge someones identity completely is looking back on their whole life and summarizing it in one word.

Getting to know you

While some may not consider this a sport I think that skateboarding is the sport I do is skateboarding. I started when I was in the summer before freshman year. My group of friends and I all began to skate at the same time so we were able to progress together. It created a bond between us because every day we would be going to town meeting up to go and film for fun. It was an amazing time where I was able to learn bonding and determination. In my free time I mainly like to spend time with my friends and that is both outside and on the computer. I like to walk around and explore places with friends and meet new people and socialize. Then when the day comes to a end and I begin to relax I like to go on my computer and play games with the people I meet on their and in real life. I enjoy playing computer games because it grants me the ability to connect with people of all types all across the world. In fact I have even met a 23 year old who works on fighter planes for the Air Force just by talking to him and are mutual friends that we met through playing computer games. The most ridiculous lie I ever told must have to be when I told my friend that I couldn't come hang out with him because I was helping my friend move to Maine that day. When in reality I just felt bad because in the recent weeks I had always been busy but that day I was taking to myself. So to try and avoid him thinking that I didn't like him instead I said I was busy. When I write I prefer to sit at a computer and let the words flow. I try to just keep typing even if its irrelevant as long as I type words eventually I will come across the main point I was make and then just refine it down to the main points. It helps my essays have flow rather than writing and outline because the outline doesn't stimulate my brain and makes my essays boring. So far I would have to describe my writing experience I would describe it as sub-par. I am not the most excellent writer so English class has always been a point of struggle for me so the main thing I am looking to learn is the proper way to elevate  my sentences to college level. The most recent book that I have completed cover to cover was To Kill A Mocking Bird. This is actually my favorite book and movie, I use social media everyday. Although while I may be on social media everyday I am not on it constantly. Mainly I use Snapchat and Instagram other than that not many more. The thing that is most important thing for me to learn this year is how to elevate my sentences to college level. Identity is the thing that you consider the main aspect of their life. When a person focuses on one thing that becomes there identity. I feel that there is a profile behind skateboarders that isn't always true. Many people think that if you skateboard that you are a bad kid or you do drug and should be looked down upon. That's not true skateboarding is a fun activity and a great workout for the legs and abs. I rate myself a C writer because I struggle to bring my sentence structure and vocabulary to a college level standard.
